Poetry and Healing at the Hot Springs

September 8, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - September 10, 2017 @ 12:00 pm

A weekend of poetry, soaking in Hot Springs, hiking, sharing stories and eating amazing vegetarian meals (in the tradition of Taoist hospitality around a huge communal table) in a magical old Victorian Inn set in the heart of Appalachia.

Join us for a weekend of renewal, deep listening to your heart, exploring writing as a way to journey into the soul and uncover your inner wisdom. Experience poetry as a transformative way to tell your story. Recover a child-like sense of wonder and presence. Learn tools to reach deeply into your experiences, live life more creatively, explore memories and dreams, and become attuned to the pulse of nature and ordinary wonders of your world. This class will help you say what you most want to say, in ways that capture emotion and grace. All levels of writing welcome, even if you’ve never written a poem before!

The weekend will be full of self-nurturing, rich sharing, truth seeking, holding each other’s stories in a tender way and allowing the nuance of our inner landscape to unfold visibly on the page.

Sunnybank Inn is an old Victorian guesthouse in Hot Springs, NC that tries to “create a workable synthesis of good place, right work, and simple living. Inspired by the ancient hospitality traditions of Taoist and Zen mountain inns, we continue to provide shelter, sustenance, and sanctuary to those who come our way. Our goals are to offer our guests a warm environment that is sane, safe, and supporting; to serve the best and healthiest vegetarian meals as graciously as we can; and to offer a window to an older, traditional, and more civilized way of living.”
